Brownie Bottom

Method

Brownie Bottom Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugars and Eggs

Remove from heat, and stir in 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup brown sugar until well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup cocoa powder, and 0.5 tsp salt.

  6. 6

    Mix Dry and Wet

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in 1 cup chocolate chips.

  7. 7

    Bake Brownie Layer

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25 minutes.

  1. 8

In a large bowl, cream together 0.5 cup unsalted butter, 0.5 cup granulated sugar, and 0.5 cup brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  2. 9

Beat in 1 large egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 10

In another bowl, mix together 1.5 cups all-purpose flour, 0.5 tsp baking soda, and 0.25 tsp salt.

  4. 11

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, stirring until combined. Fold in 1 cup chocolate chips.

  5. 12

After the brownie layer has baked for 25 minutes, remove it from the oven and spread the cookie dough evenly over the top.

  6. 13

Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the cookie layer is golden brown.

Cooling and Serving

  1. 14

    Cool and Cut

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

  2. 15

    Serve

Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy the delicious layers of brownie and cookie!
