Main Ingredients

Vegetable Medley

Method

Cooking the Kobe Beef

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the Kobe beef steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides generously with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  2. 2

    Sear the Steak

Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it's very hot. Add the seasoned Kobe beef and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time according to your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your preference, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Preparing the Vegetable Medley

  1. 4

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the steak is resting, prepare the asparagus by trimming the ends. Cut the cherry tomatoes in half.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the steak, lower the heat to medium and add olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add asparagus and cherry tomatoes, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until the asparagus is tender and the tomatoes are slightly blistered. Stir in the chopped basil during the last minute of cooking.

Plating the Dish

  1. 6

    Slice and Serve

Slice the Kobe beef steak against the grain into thin strips. Arrange the vegetable medley on a serving plate, top with sliced steak, drizzle with balsamic glaze, and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
