Sticky Buns

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

  3. 3

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. 4

    Prepare Glaze

In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and cook until the mixture is bubbly. Pour this mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle pecans evenly over the glaze.

  5. 5

    Shape Buns

On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 12x24 inches). Spread remaining melted butter over the dough. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over the buttered surface. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal pieces.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Place the sliced buns into the prepared baking dish, cut side up. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the buns for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
