Method
Preparation Directions
Melt Chocolate and Butter
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together until smooth. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
Add Cocoa and Flavorings
Sift in the dark cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.
Bake
Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the edges are set, and the center is slightly soft.
Cool and Dust
Remove from the oven and allow the torte to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Once cooled, dust the top with espresso powder before serving.
