Method

Chicken Fried Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Pound the beef round steak to about 1/2 inch thickness. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.

  2. 2

    Breading the Steak

In one bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In another bowl, place the flour. Dip the steak first in the flour, then in the egg mixture, and back into the flour to coat well.

  3. 3

    Frying the Steak

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded steak until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 4

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and quarter the potatoes. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 5

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return to the pot. Add garlic (minced), butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Gravy Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Gravy

In the same skillet used for the steak, add flour to the drippings and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth, salt, and black pepper. Cook until thickened.

Corn on the Cob Preparation

  1. 7

    Cook the Corn

Boil the corn in salted water for about 5-7 minutes until tender. Serve with butter and salt.
