Topping

  1. 1

    Make the Topping

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix well, then stir in 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of melted butter until combined.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In another bowl, toss the pitted cherries with 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well mixed.

  3. 3

    Combine and Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the cherry filling evenly in a greased baking dish. Pour the topping mixture over the cherries, spreading it evenly. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherries are bubbling.

  4. 4

    Serve

Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
