Miso Soup Ingredients

Method

Miso Soup Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dashi Stock

In a pot, bring the dashi stock to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Seaweed

Add the dried seaweed (wakame) to the simmering dashi and let it rehydrate for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Mushrooms

Add the sliced mushrooms to the pot and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until tender.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Miso

In a small bowl, take a ladle of the hot dashi and mix it with the miso paste until smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Miso with Soup

Stir the miso mixture back into the pot, reducing the heat to low. Do not boil the soup after adding the miso.

  6. 6

    Add Tofu and Green Onions

Gently add the cubed tofu and chopped green onions to the soup. Allow to heat for another 2 minutes.

  7. 7

    Serve

Ladle the soup into bowls and serve hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
