Preparing the Sauce

Brown the Meat
Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. This should take about 8-10 minutes.

Combine Ingredients
Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix all the ingredients well.

Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook uncovered for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens.
Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.

Cook the Spaghetti
Add 400 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions (usually about 8-10 minutes) until al dente.

Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti in a colander.
Serving

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti to the Bolognese sauce. Toss well to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.

Plate and Garnish
Serve the spaghetti Bolognese hot, garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and basil leaves.
