Mashed Potatoes

Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle both sides of the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper, ensuring an even coating. Allow the steak to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to enhance flavor.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Sear the Steak

Carefully place the seasoned ribeye steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer to reach your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Add Flavor

In the last 2 minutes of cooking, add the garlic cloves, butter, and fresh rosemary to the skillet. Use a spoon to baste the steaks with the melted butter and garlic.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes.

Preparing the Mashed Potatoes

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot, cover with water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 7

    Drain and Mash

Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  3. 8

    Serve

Scoop the mashed potatoes onto plates and serve alongside the rested ribeye steak.
