Method

Preparing the Prawns

  1. 1

    Boil the Prawns

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the prawns and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook them.

  2. 2

    Chill the Prawns

Once cooked, drain the prawns and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes, then drain again and pat dry with a paper towel.

  3. 3

    Season the Prawns

In a bowl, mix the cooled prawns with lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Toss gently to combine, and set aside.

Making the Marie Rose Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and Tabasco sauce. Stir well until fully mixed.

  2. 5

    Season the Sauce

Taste the sauce and add salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning as preferred, and set aside.

Assembling the Prawn Cocktail

  1. 6

    Prepare the Serving Dish

On a serving plate or in individual cocktail glasses, lay down the lettuce leaves as a bed for the prawns.

  2. 7

    Add the Prawns

Arrange the seasoned prawns on top of the lettuce leaves.

  3. 8

    Top with Sauce

Generously drizzle the Marie Rose sauce over the prawns.

  4. 9

    Garnish

Finish with lemon wedges on the side for garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy!
