Begin by preparing the glass. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass to moisten it.

Dip the rim of the glass into a plate with salt to coat the rim evenly.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup.

Fill the cocktail shaker with ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
