Method

Preparation of Meat

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or diced chicken breast. Cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes for ground beef, 7-10 minutes for chicken).

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Add diced onions and bell peppers to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and cook for another 2 minutes.

Assembling the Nachos

  1. 4

    Layer the Chips

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a large baking sheet, spread out the tortilla chips in an even layer.

  2. 5

    Add Meat Mixture

Evenly distribute the cooked meat and vegetable mixture over the tortilla chips.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese generously over the top.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the Nachos

Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Final Toppings

  1. 8

    Add Toppings

Remove from the oven and immediately top with jalapeños, dollops of sour cream, guacamole, and sprinkle fresh cilantro.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve hot with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the nachos.
