Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, combine the lime juice, olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, cumin, black pepper, salt, and chopped cilantro. Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the flank steak from the marinade and shake off excess. Grill the steak for about 6-8 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Toppings

While the steak is resting, slice the green chiles and dice the onion. Chop additional cilantro for garnish.

Serving

  1. 5

    Slice and Serve

Slice the rested steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve the carne asada with the sliced green chiles, diced onion, chopped cilantro, and lime wedges on the side for added flavor.
