Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes before cooking. This helps in achieving an even cook.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Rub the seasoning into the meat so it adheres well.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

Place a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to heat until it's shimmering but not smoking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Add the steak to the hot pan and sear it for about 4-5 minutes on one side, without moving it, until a nice crust forms.

  3. 5

    Flip and Add Optional Ingredients

Flip the steak using tongs and add the fresh herbs and butter to the pan. Continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time for your desired doneness.

  4. 6

    Baste the Steak

Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted butter and cooking juices. This adds flavor and moisture to the meat.

Resting

  1. 7

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice and Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with your favorite sides. Enjoy your juicy steak!
