Method

Preparation of Meat Sauce

  1. 1

    Cook the Ground Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

    Add Aromatics

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Preparation of Cheese Mixture

  1. 4

    Mix Cheese Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until smooth.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 6

    Layer Ingredients

Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread a portion of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers (noodles, cheese mixture, meat sauce) two more times, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.

  3. 7

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and dried oregano over the top layer of meat sauce.

Baking

  1. 8

    Cover and Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

  2. 9

    Uncover and Continue Baking

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  3. 10

    Let Rest

Remove from oven and let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
