Tomato Sauce

Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until fully incorporated.

  2. 2

    Shape Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill

Cover the meatballs with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Tomato Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Cooking Meatballs

  1. 6

    Cook Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Transfer the meatballs to the simmering tomato sauce. Cover the skillet and let the meatballs cook in the sauce for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through.

  2. 7

    Serve

Once cooked, serve the meatballs hot with sauce over spaghetti, or enjoy them as an appetizer with toothpicks.
