Chocolate Mousse

Whipped Cream Topping

Method

Chocolate Mousse

  1. 1

    Melt the Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a separate bowl, whisk together the large eggs and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Chocolate and Egg Mixture

Gradually fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until fully combined. Be careful not to deflate the mixture.

  4. 4

    Whip the Cream

In another bowl, whip the 300 ml of heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until no streaks remain.

  5. 5

    Chill the Mousse

Divide the mousse into individual serving dishes or a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours to set.

Whipped Cream Topping

  1. 6

    Prepare the Whipped Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine 100 ml of heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip until stiff peaks form.

  2. 7

    Serve

Once the mousse is set, top each serving with a dollop of the whipped cream before serving.
