Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak the Rice

Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coconut Sauce

In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not let it boil. Set aside 1/4 cup of this mixture for drizzling later.

  3. 3

    Steam the Rice

Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes until it becomes translucent and tender.

  4. 4

    Combine Rice and Coconut Sauce

Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the coconut sauce over the warm rice and mix well. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Mango

While the rice is resting, peel and slice the ripe mango into thin strips.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Scoop a portion of the sticky rice onto a serving plate. Arrange the mango slices next to the rice.

  2. 7

    Add Toppings

Drizzle the reserved coconut sauce over the rice and mango. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top and garnish with fresh mint leaves.

  3. 8

    Enjoy

Serve the Thai sweet sticky rice warm or at room temperature and enjoy this delicious dessert!
