Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Muddle the Ingredients

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the Thai basil leaves and granulated sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the leaves with the sugar, releasing the aromatic oils.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime in half. Squeeze the juice from both halves into the muddled basil and sugar mixture. If you prefer, you can also cut the lime into wedges and muddle them together with the basil and sugar for extra flavor.

  3. 3

    Mix in the Rum

Pour the white rum into the glass or shaker with the muddled ingredients. Stir gently to mix the flavors together.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass or shaker with ice cubes. If using a shaker, you can also shake the mixture for a few seconds to chill it thoroughly.

  5. 5

    Top with Club Soda

Add the club soda to the glass, pouring it over the ice. Stir gently to combine without losing the fizz.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish the cocktail with a sprig of Thai basil. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring stick.
