Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Garlic Butter

Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the sirloin steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil if desired. Place the steak in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Baste with garlic butter during the last minute of cooking.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Preparing the Fries

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin strips to resemble fries.

  2. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Fry the potato strips in batches, cooking for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt to taste.

Preparing the Salad

  1. 8

    Combine the Salad Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the rocket greens and preserved cherry tomatoes. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, then toss to combine. Add salt to taste.
