Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, mix olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Coat the flank steak with this mixture and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated flank steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Adjust the time for desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. Slice the steak thinly against the grain.

Dipping Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Sauce

In a saucepan, combine beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and minced garlic cloves. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  2. 5

    Reduce the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Rolls

Slice the French rolls in half lengthwise. You can lightly toast them on the grill or in the oven if desired.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Dish

Fill each roll with the sliced steak and serve with the dipping sauce on the side.
