Method

Prepare the Crab Cake Mixture

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, gently combine the lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and finely chopped green onions.

  2. 2

    Add Binders

Add the breadcrumbs, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Carefully fold the ingredients together until just combined. Be cautious not to break up the crab meat too much.

  3. 3

    Chill Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to help it hold its shape while cooking.

Cook the Crab Cakes

  1. 4

    Shape the Cakes

After chilling, take the crab mixture out of the refrigerator. Using your hands, form the mixture into 4 to 6 patties, depending on your preferred size.

  2. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

  3. 6

    Cook the Cakes

Add the crab cakes to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  4. 7

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, transfer the crab cakes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with lemon wedges and tartar sauce on the side.
