Steak and Cheese

Garlic Toast

Method

Prepare the Steak

  1. 1

    Cook the Steak

Season the New York strip steak with salt and black pepper. Grill or pan-sear over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.

Make the Au Jus

  1. 2

    Prepare Au Jus

In a saucepan over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened. Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.

Prepare Garlic Toast

  1. 3

    Make Garlic Toast

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Spread the mixture on the cut sides of the bread. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden and crispy.

Assemble the Dips

  1. 4

    Assemble Mini Steak French Dips

Layer the sliced steak on the garlic toast and top with slices of Gruyere cheese. Place under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted. Serve the mini steak French dips with warm au jus for dipping.
