Optional Topping

Method

Prepare the Patty

  1. 1

    Season the Meat

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then divide into two equal portions and shape them into patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 3

    Melt the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and cover the skillet or grill to help melt the cheese.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Bun

While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 5

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. If using, add the crispy bacon on top.

  4. 6

    Finish Up

Place the top half of the bun over the assembled ingredients and press gently. Your cheeseburger is ready to serve!
