Tuna Tartare

Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Finely dice the fresh sushi-grade tuna into small cubes, about 1/4 inch. Place in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Dice the Vegetables

Peel and dice the avocado and cucumber into small pieces. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño and finely chop it. Grate the fresh ginger.

  3. 3

    Chop the Cilantro

Rinse the fresh cilantro under cold water, shake off excess moisture, and chop it coarsely.

Making the Soy Vinaigrette

  1. 4

    Combine the Dressing Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sesame seeds until well mixed.

Mixing the Tartare

  1. 5

    Combine All Ingredients

In the bowl with the diced tuna, add the diced avocado, cucumber, chopped cilantro, jalapeño, and grated ginger. Pour the soy vinaigrette over the mixture.

  2. 6

    Gently Toss

Using a spatula, gently toss all ingredients together, ensuring the tuna and vegetables are coated with the vinaigrette. Be careful not to mash the avocado.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Tartare

Use a ring mold to shape the tartare mixture onto a plate for an elegant presentation. Remove the mold carefully.

  2. 8

    Add Sesame Crisps

Serve the tuna tartare with sesame crisps on the side for dipping.
