Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Boil the Eggs

In a pot of boiling water, gently add the eggs. Boil for 8-10 minutes for hard-boiled eggs. Once done, transfer to an ice bath to cool. Peel the eggs once cooled.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Sausage

In a bowl, mix the Irish sausage until it reaches a smooth consistency. Divide the sausage into 6 equal portions.

  3. 3

    Wrap the Eggs

Take one portion of sausage and flatten it in your hand. Place a peeled egg in the center, and carefully wrap the sausage around the egg, ensuring it is fully covered. Repeat with remaining eggs.

  4. 4

    Bread the Scotch Eggs

Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs (optional), and one with breadcrumbs. Roll each sausage-wrapped egg in flour, dip in beaten eggs (if using), and then coat with breadcrumbs.

  5. 5

    Fry the Eggs

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully lower the breaded Scotch eggs into the hot oil and fry for about 6-8 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
