Method
Preparing Sticky Rice
- 1
Soak the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2
Cook the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the grains are translucent and sticky.
- 3
Prepare Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- 4
Combine Rice and Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour about 3/4 of the coconut sauce over the rice and mix gently. Let it sit for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Preparing Mango
- 5
Peel and Slice Mango
Peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin strips or wedges.
Assembly
- 6
Serve the Dish
Scoop a portion of the sticky rice onto a serving plate. Arrange the mango slices on top or beside the rice. Drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the top.
- 7
Add Garnish
If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds and coconut flakes on top for added texture and flavor.
