Method
Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-cup bundt pan.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, beat the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the boiling water until smooth; the batter will be thin.
- 5
Bake the Cake
Pour half of the batter into the prepared bundt pan. Place the dark chocolate truffles evenly spaced on top of the batter, then pour the remaining batter over the truffles.
- 6
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake (not touching the truffles) comes out clean.
- 7
Cool the Cake
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
- 8
Slice and Serve
Slice the cake and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top. Drizzle with chocolate and caramel sauce to taste.
