Fried Pickles
House-made Ranch
Method
Fried Pickles
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the jar of dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk mixture, then dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring each slice is well coated.
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the coated pickles into the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
House-made Ranch
- 6

- 8
Chill
Refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
