Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Rinse the ribs and pat them dry with paper towels.

  3. 3

    Season the Ribs

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub the spice mix all over the ribs.

  4. 4

    Wrap the Ribs

Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet.

  5. 5

    Bake the Ribs

Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for about 2.5 to 3 hours, or until they are tender.

Making the BBQ Sauce

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and liquid smoke.

  2. 7

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until it thickens.

Preparing French Fries

  1. 8

    Cut the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into thin strips.

  2. 9

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 10

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 11

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt while hot.

Finishing the Ribs

  1. 12

    Glaze the Ribs

Remove the ribs from the oven and unwrap them. Brush the BBQ sauce generously over the ribs.

  2. 13

    Broil the Ribs

Place the glazed ribs back in the oven on broil for about 5-7 minutes until the sauce is caramelized.

  3. 14

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let the ribs rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with hot french fries.
