Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Shrimp and Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and just starting to turn golden.

  2. 3

    Add the Tomatoes

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes along with the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  3. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the simmering sauce and cook for 4-5 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp.

  4. 5

    Finish with Fresh Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving, allowing it to wilt slightly in the heat of the sauce.

Combine and Serve

  1. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the shrimp and sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 7

    Serve

Divide the Shrimp Fra Diavolo into serving bowls and garnish with additional fresh basil if desired. Enjoy your spicy shrimp pasta!
