Main Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Tuna

  1. 1

    Season the Tuna

Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a splash of sesame oil to the pan. Once the oil is hot, add the tuna steaks. Sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if you prefer it more cooked.

  3. 3

    Rest the Tuna

Remove the tuna from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for a few minutes before slicing.

Making the Salad

  1. 4

    Prepare the Greens

In a large bowl, combine the mixed salad greens.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Avocado

Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Cut the avocado into slices and add them to the salad bowl.

Making the Dressing

  1. 6

    Combine Dressing Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and sesame seeds. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 7

    Combine and Serve

Slice the rested tuna into thin strips. Add the tuna to the bowl with the greens and avocado. Drizzle the sesame dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine. Serve immediately.
