Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Corned Beef

Rinse the corned beef under cold water to remove excess salt. Place it in a large pot.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Chop the cabbage into quarters, peel and chop the carrots into large chunks, and peel the potatoes. Cut the onion into quarters.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Add Ingredients to Pot

Add the chopped onion, carrots, and potatoes to the pot with the corned beef. Pour in the beef broth, ensuring that the meat is covered.

  2. 4

    Season the Dish

Add bay leaves, whole black peppercorns, mustard seeds, garlic cloves (smashed), salt, and black pepper to the pot.

  3. 5

    Cook the Corned Beef

Bring the pot to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 2 to 2.5 hours, until the corned beef is tender.

  4. 6

    Add the Cabbage

After 2 hours of cooking, add the cabbage quarters to the pot. Cover and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cabbage is tender.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Remove the corned beef from the pot and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice against the grain and serve with the vegetables on the side.

  2. 8

    Garnish

Optionally, you can garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
