Teriyaki Sauce
Method
Preparation of Teriyaki Sauce
- 1
Make the Teriyaki Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- 2
Thicken the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Once the sauce is boiling, gradually stir in the cornstarch mixture. Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
Cooking the Tidbits
- 3
Prepare the Filet
Cut the filet mignon into bite-sized cubes, about 1 inch in size.
- 4
Sauté the Meat
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a splash of oil. Once hot, add the filet cubes and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- 5
Cook the Pineapple
In the same skillet, add the pineapple chunks and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they are caramelized.
- 6
Combine Ingredients
Return the sautéed filet mignon to the skillet with the pineapple. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the mixture and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring to coat everything evenly.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat, chop the scallions and sprinkle them over the top along with the sesame seeds. Serve hot.
