Ribs
BBQ Bourbon Glaze
Method
Prepare the Ribs
- 1
Season the Ribs
Remove the membrane from the back of the baby back ribs. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, ensuring an even coating.
- 2
Slow Cook the Ribs
Place the seasoned ribs in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat is pulling away from the bones.
Make the BBQ Bourbon Glaze
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
- 4
Cook the Glaze
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
Finish the Ribs
- 5
Glaze the Ribs
Once the ribs are done cooking in the slow cooker, remove them carefully and place them on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Brush the BBQ bourbon glaze generously over the ribs.
- 6
Broil for a Finish
Preheat your oven broiler. Place the glazed ribs under the broiler for about 5-7 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and bubbly. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
- 7
Serve
Remove the ribs from the oven, let them rest for a few minutes, then slice between the bones and serve with extra BBQ bourbon glaze on the side.
