Method
Mojito Preparation
- 1
Muddle the Mint and Sugar
In a sturdy glass, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the mint leaves to release their oils while mixing with the sugar. Do not shred the leaves; just press enough to release the aroma.
- 2
Add Lime Juice
Pour the fresh lime juice into the glass with the muddled mint and sugar. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients together.
- 3
Pour in the Rum
Add 2 oz of white rum to the mixture. Stir gently to ensure that the rum is well combined with the muddled mint, sugar, and lime juice.
- 4
Add Ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes until it is almost full. This will help chill the drink and provide a refreshing experience.
- 5
Top with Soda Water
Pour 4 oz of soda water over the ice until the glass is full. Use a spoon to gently stir the mixture again to combine the soda with the other ingredients.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Garnish your mojito with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer for easy sipping.
