Method

Beef Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Patty Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Burger Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce leaves and slice the tomato into thin rounds.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Once the patties are ready, place each patty on the bottom half of a hamburger bun. Top with lettuce, a slice of tomato, and drizzle with ketchup and mustard to taste. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.
