Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Season the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Once the oil is hot, add the seasoned ribeye steak to the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same pan, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sliced onions, mushrooms, and green bell pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are soft and slightly caramelized.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Cheesesteak

Return the sliced steak to the pan with the sautéed vegetables. Stir to combine and heat through for about 2 minutes. Divide the mixture into four portions in the pan.

  5. 5

    Add the Cheese

Place two slices of white American cheese on each portion of the steak and vegetable mixture. Cover the pan for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.

  6. 6

    Serve the Cheesesteaks

Using a spatula, scoop the cheesy steak and vegetable mixture into hoagie rolls. Serve immediately with optional hot or sweet peppers on the side.
