Cheesesteaks

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, add the bacon slices and cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel to drain excess grease.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Onions

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and then add the sliced medium onion. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onions are soft and caramelized. Season with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Season the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper. In the same skillet, increase the heat to high. Add the steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare or to your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.

  4. 4

    Melt the Cheese

After slicing the steak, return it to the skillet over low heat. Layer the white American cheese slices over the steak. Cover with a lid to help melt the cheese, about 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Sandwich

Slice the sub rolls in half. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each side of the roll. Layer the lettuce leaves, followed by the tomato slices, then the cheesesteak mixture, and finally, the crispy bacon.

  6. 6

    Serve

Close the sandwich, slice in half if desired, and serve immediately while hot.
