Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Apple Filling

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, flour, lemon juice, and salt. Toss until the apples are well coated. Set aside to let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  3. 3

    Prepare the Pie Crust

Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate. Pour the apple filling into the crust.

  4. 4

    Top the Pie

Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape. Seal the edges by crimping.

  5. 5

    Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.

  6. 6

    Cool and Serve

Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
