Gulab Jamun Ingredients

Method

Gulab Jamun Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Syrup

In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and cardamom pods. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Add rosewater and set aside to cool.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking soda. Add ghee and mix well. Gradually add milk, kneading until a soft dough forms. Let rest for 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Shape the Balls

Grease your hands with ghee and take small portions of the dough to form smooth balls, about the size of a marble.

  4. 4

    Fry the Balls

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the balls in batches until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Soak in Syrup

Once fried, immediately transfer the balls to the warm syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.

  6. 6

    Serve Warm

Serve the Gulab Jamun warm, drizzled with some extra syrup if desired.
