Directions
- 1
Rinse the Rice
Place the white rice in a fine-mesh sieve and rinse it under cold running water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from becoming gummy.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Stir gently to combine.
- 3
Bring to a Boil
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
- 4
Simmer
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for about 18 minutes.
- 5
Rest the Rice
After 18 minutes, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. This helps the rice finish cooking and absorb any remaining water.
- 6
Fluff and Serve
Remove the lid and use a fork to fluff the rice. Serve warm alongside your favorite curry.
