Yogurt Preparation

1

Heat the Milk

In a saucepan, heat the whole milk over medium heat until it reaches about 180°F (82°C). Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.

2

Cool the Milk

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the milk cool down to about 110°F (43°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.

3

Add Yogurt Culture

Once the milk has cooled, mix in the plain yogurt. Stir gently until the yogurt is fully dissolved into the milk.

4

Incubate the Yogurt

Transfer the mixture to a clean container, cover it, and place it in a warm environment for 6 to 12 hours. This can be done using a yogurt maker, an oven with the light on, or an insulated cooler.

5

Check for Thickness

After the incubation period, check the yogurt for thickness. If it has reached your desired consistency, you can proceed to the next step.

6

Refrigerate

Once the yogurt is thick, transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours before serving. This will help it set further.
