Prepare the Moong Dal
Rinse the moong dal under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the dal in water for at least 30 minutes.

Add Spices
Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chilies. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Add Tomatoes and Spices
Add the pureed tomatoes, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the mixture.

Combine Dal and Water
Add the soaked moong dal and water to the pot. Stir well and bring to a boil.

Slow Cook
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until the dal is soft and creamy.

Finish with Garam Masala
Once the dal is cooked, stir in the garam masala and adjust seasoning if necessary. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Garnish and Serve
Garnish with fresh coriander and a drizzle of clarified butter before serving. Enjoy with rice or naan.
