Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Millet

Rinse the kavani millet thoroughly under running water and soak it in water for about 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Roast the Nuts

In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee over medium heat. Add the mixed nuts and sauté until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Millet

In the same pan, add the remaining ghee and let it melt. Add the soaked millet and sauté for a few minutes until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Add Water and Simmer

Pour in 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the millet is soft and water is absorbed.

  5. 5

    Incorporate Jaggery

Once the millet is cooked, add the grated jaggery and cardamom powder. Mix well and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the jaggery melts and blends into the halwa.

  6. 6

    Add Nuts and Serve

Stir in the roasted nuts. Serve warm, garnished with additional nuts if desired.
