Naan Dough Ingredients

Method

Garlic Infusion and Naan Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Prepare Garlic Mixture

While the dough is rising, mince about 4-5 cloves of garlic and mix them with 2 tablespoons of melted butter and some chopped fresh herbs (like cilantro or parsley) to taste. Set aside.

  4. 4

    Shape the Naan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten it into an oval or circle about 1/4 inch thick.

  5. 5

    Cook the Naan

Heat a skillet or tandoor over medium-high heat. Place the naan in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and puffed up. Brush with the garlic mixture while still warm.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve warm with your favorite curry or as a side with any meal.
