Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sauce

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Meat

Add the ground beef and pork to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Flavors

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing it to reduce slightly.

  4. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Stir well, bring to a gentle simmer, and cover. Let it cook on low heat for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 5

    Cook the Pasta

While the sauce is simmering, cook the rigatoni in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  6. 6

    Combine and Serve

Once the sauce is ready, remove the bay leaf and combine the rigatoni with the Bolognese sauce. Serve in bowls, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
