For the Coffee Mixture

For the Mascarpone Cream

Method

Prepare Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso or coffee and allow it to cool. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur.

Make Mascarpone Cream

  1. 2

    Whisk Egg Yolks and Sugar

In a large bowl, whisk together 4 large egg yolks and 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

  2. 3

    Add Mascarpone and Vanilla

Add 16 oz of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Gently fold until combined.

  3. 4

    Whip Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and fully incorporated.

Assemble Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them. Place them in a single layer in a 9x13 inch dish.

  2. 7

    Layer Mascarpone Cream

Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the layer of ladyfingers.

  3. 8

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream.

  4. 9

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  5. 10

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and add dark chocolate shavings if desired.
