Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F) and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well to ensure the salt is evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil into the well. Mix until a rough dough begins to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Transfer it to a floured surface and gently stretch it into a rectangle shape about 1 inch thick.

  3. 8

    Prepare for Baking

Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Use your fingers to create dimples in the surface of the dough.

  4. 9

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle sea salt and fresh rosemary evenly over the top of the dough.

  5. 10

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

  6. 11

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
