Sea Salt

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Harvesting Sea Salt

Begin by sourcing high-quality sea salt. If you are near a coastal area, you can collect sea water and prepare it for evaporation. Ensure that no contaminants are present in the water.

  2. 2

Fill a shallow container or large pan with sea water. The container should be wide enough to allow for maximum surface area exposure to facilitate evaporation.

Evaporation Process

  1. 3

    Natural Evaporation

Place the container under direct sunlight in a windy area. This process may take several days depending on the weather conditions. The goal is to allow the sun and wind to evaporate the water, leaving behind the sea salt crystals.

  2. 4

Check the container daily. As the water evaporates, crystals will begin to form. You can gently stir the salt to help it crystallize evenly.

Harvesting the Salt

  1. 5

    Collecting Sea Salt Crystals

Once the water has completely evaporated and you see a layer of salt crystals, use a clean, dry spoon to collect the salt. Be careful not to disturb the layer of salt too much to avoid mixing in any remaining moisture.

  2. 6

Transfer the harvested sea salt into an airtight container for storage. Ensure that it is completely dry before sealing to prevent clumping.
